The concept of TRANSREALITY®︎, which Yamaguchi has been exploring since 2019, evolved in 2020 into works depicting selfie girls and smartphone imagery. This exhibition presents the culmination of that progression: the “SELFY” series. All works on view are new. In addition to square-format paintings, Yamaguchi will unveil larger, vertically oriented works that emphasize the cinematic, smartphone-shaped perspective. We warmly invite you to visit.

We are pleased to present Masato Yamaguchi’s solo exhibition “SELFY.” In this exhibition, Yamaguchi introduces a new body of work in which he cuts up and reassembles images of selfies seen on Instagram and TikTok, creating paintings through stencil and spray techniques. Influenced by Shibuya-kei and graffiti culture of the 1990s, Yamaguchi began his career using methods of sampling and remix. Since 2019, he has been developing the concept of “TRANSREALITY,” which focuses on figures, landscapes, and objects as they appear on smartphone screens—worlds where reality and illusion coexist.
This exhibition marks the first occasion in which Yamaguchi presents his distinctive “SELFY” series of female portraits together in a single show.

2019年から取り組んでいた TRANSREALITY®︎ のコンセプトが2020年から自撮り女子やスマホのイメージを描くように進化し、少しづつ発表してきたある種集大成の"𝑺𝑬𝑳𝑭𝒀"シリーズの個展となります。全て新作です。いままでのスクエアのものに加え、縦長画角のスマホの世界観を強調した大きめの作品も発表しますのでぜひお越しください。

山口真人の"SELFY"展を開催いたします。
"SELFY展では、山口真人がインスタグラムやティックトックに映る自撮り(SELFY)のイメージをカットアップし、ステンシル / スプレーの手法で制作した新作を発表致します。
山口は90年代の渋谷系・グラフィティのカルチャーに影響を受けサンプリング・リミックスの手法を用い作家活動を開始いたしました。2019年より、スマートフォンに映る人物や風景、静物に着目し、現実と虚像が同居する世界観を描く「トランスリアリティ」のコンセプトを提唱。
本展示ではその中でも特徴的な、山口の女性を描いた“SELFY”のシリーズを同時に展示をするはじめての試みとなります。

自 2019 年开始构思的 TRANSREALITY®︎ 概念，在 2020 年逐渐发展为以自拍少女与智能手机影像为主题的创作，并最终凝聚成此次可谓集大成的 “SELFY” 系列个展。所有作品皆为新作。
此次展览除了延续过去方形画幅的作品外，还将发表多件更大型的纵长画幅作品，以更加强调智能手机所象征的当代视觉世界。诚挚邀请您前来参观。

我们将举办 山口真人 “SELFY” 展。
在本次展览中，山口真人将把 Instagram、TikTok 等社交媒体中出现的自拍（SELFY）影像进行剪辑、分解与重组，并以模板（Stencil）与喷漆的手法创作全新作品。
山口自 90 年代受到涩谷系与涂鸦文化的影响，以取样（Sampling）与混音（Remix）的方法展开创作。自 2019 年起，他聚焦于智能手机中呈现的人物、风景与静物影像，提出 “现实与虚像共存” 的 Transreality（跨现实） 概念。
本次展览将首次集中展示山口作品中具有强烈代表性的女性主题系列—— “SELFY”。 诚挚期待各位的到来。
