STENCIL OBJECT は、絵画を描くための手段である“ステンシルそのもの”を主役として制作された作品シリーズである。 山口の絵画において、ステンシルは本来、図像を成立させるための補助的な道具として機能してきたが、本作では、山口の表現の原点ともいえる“線”＝アウトラインに焦点が当てられている。このアウトラインは、すべて精緻なベジェ曲線によって構成されており、デジタル時代の線描を象徴する構造体として、山口の視覚表現の根幹を成している。 ステンシルをそのまま作品化するという行為は、すなわち「線そのもの」を表現の主役へと転換する試みであり、アウトライン＝ベジェ曲線という、山口にとって最もプリミティブな絵画表現の核を提示するものである。

STENCIL OBJECT is a series of works that brings the stencil—a tool traditionally used to create paintings—into focus as the central subject. In Yamaguchi’s practice, stencils have typically functioned as supporting devices for composing images. In this series, however, the emphasis is placed on the line—the outline—which represents the very origin of his expression. These outlines are composed entirely of precise Bézier curves, structural elements that symbolize line drawing in the digital age and form the foundation of Yamaguchi’s visual language. By transforming the stencil itself into the work, he shifts the act of drawing the line into the core of expression, presenting the outline—as Bézier curve—as the most primitive essence of his painting practice.
