SH GALLERY is pleased to present Masato Yamaguchi’s solo exhibition “TRUEFALSE.” In this exhibition, Yamaguchi will unveil his latest paintings and sculptures.
The term [ TRUE / FALSE ], originally used in programming to denote logical values of truth or falsehood, has been redefined by Yamaguchi as “TRUEFALSE”—a neologism that expresses phenomena and existences embodying both truth and falsehood simultaneously. In other words, “TRUEFALSE” represents images, personalities, phenomena, and worldviews in which authenticity and falsity coexist.
Since 2021, Yamaguchi has explored the theme “SELFY”: self-portrait-like images flooding social media—head tilted, smartphone in hand, eyes fixed on the camera, cuteness enhanced through filters—which he reinterprets as contemporary portraiture.
Building on the “SELFY” concept, Yamaguchi captures the fleeting beauty of a digital world overflowing with reality and illusion. Through refined graphic compositions and vivid colors, he expresses this delicate interplay. The gaze of the women painted on canvas invites the viewer to question what kind of reality can be perceived there.
“TRUEFALSE” marks a significant milestone in Yamaguchi’s practice, showcasing a new level of pictorial expression and conceptual exploration, and serving as a pivotal starting point for his future artistic trajectory.

SH GALLERY は山口真人の個展 “TRUEFALSE” を開催いたします。本展では山口の新作ペインティングと彫刻作品を発表いたします。 
もともと [ TRUE / FALSE ] はプログラミングで真偽を判定する論理値ですが、山口は真偽両者を内在した事象や存在を表現をする造語として新たに “TRUEFALSE” と言葉を定義しました。
つまり “TRUEFALSE” は本当と嘘が内在するイメージや人格、現象や世界観を示します。
山口は2021年より “SELFY” をテーマにスマートフォンを片手にカメラ目線で首をかしげ、フィルターを合成して可愛さを演出する、SNSに大量に流れてくる自撮りのイメージを現代の肖像画として描いてきました。
山口は “SELFY” のコンセプトを発展させながら、実存と虚像に溢れるデジタルワールドに映る微かな美しさを、洗練されたグラフィカルな構図と色彩で表現しています。キャンバスに描かれた女性の眼差しにどんなリアリティが見えるのか、ぜひ会場でご覧ください。
本展 “TRUEFALSE” は山口が新たなレベルの絵画表現とコンセプトを実践した今後の山口の活動の起点となる貴重な展示となります。

SH GALLERY 将举办山口真人个人展 “TRUEFALSE”，展览中将展出山口的全新绘画与雕塑作品。
原本，[TRUE / FALSE] 是编程中用于判断真假的逻辑值，但山口将其重新定义为表达内在同时包含真假事象或存在的造语——“TRUEFALSE”。
换言之，“TRUEFALSE” 指代那些内含真实与虚假、映射于形象、人格、现象或世界观中的事物。
自 2021 年起，山口以 “SELFY” 为主题，描绘手持智能手机、对着镜头歪头摆姿势并通过滤镜强化可爱的自拍形象，将这些在社交媒体中大量流传的自摄画面，转化为当代肖像画进行创作。
在发展 “SELFY” 概念的同时，山口用洗练的图像构图和色彩，呈现了映射于充满实存与虚像的数字世界中微妙而动人的美感。观众可以在画布上感受女性目光中所投射出的现实感。
本次展览 “TRUEFALSE” 是山口在全新层次上实践绘画表现与概念的展示，同时也将成为他今后创作活动的重要起点。
