「SELFY: CLASSICS」は、山口真人が2020年より展開してきたSELFYシリーズの原点であり、SNS上で日常的に演出される“私”の姿を象徴的に描いた作品群である。 特定のモデルを持たず、カメラ目線やスマートフォンを持つ仕草といった記号化された構図を用いることで、誰かのようで誰でもない“集合的肖像”が構築されている。 描画にはアウトラインと平面的な構成が用いられ、ポップカルチャーと記号論的視点が融合する形式となっている。 その手法は、伝統的な肖像画への参照とともに、現代における自己表象の在り方を批評的に捉え直すものである。
